Oakfest Update

With under 3 weeks to go preparations are going well and we are now adding the finishing touches to things.

We are delighted to announce the Performing Rights Society (PRS) have awarded The Oakfest Group a discounted rate for our PRS license due to Oakfest donating 100% of profit to good causes.

PRS for Music licences the use of copyright music across the UK, giving businesses and organisations the legal permission they need to play the music they want.

These licences ensure that music publishers, songwriters and composers are fairly rewarded with royalties so they can keep making music – and mean that we’re able to support music at events like this.  For more information about PRS for Music or music licensing, visit www.prsformusic.com or call 0800 068 4828”

The Oakfest group are also delighted to welcome Andertons Music Co. on board. Andertons have kindly offered to supply the backline for the day to allow us to maximise profits for good causes. Andertons Music co is the premier music retailer in the area and has recently been awarded the MIA best music retailer award. Thanks again to all at Andertons for their support. http://www.andertons.co.uk/News/aid450/oakfest-2010.asp

The Oakfest Group are also delighted to welcome BCS on board. Branded Concept Security LTD have agreed to take care of ALL our security requirements to ensure the day runs smoothly and without incident. They have also agreed to help us raise as much as possible by discounting their services for the day. BCS tend to security matters at events such as Manor Park bonfire night and Aldershot F.C home matches, this gives us great comfort knowing we are in very good hands.  Many thanks to Steve and the guys.  http://www.pavilion-bcs.co.uk

Huge thanks from TOG  to Tony Polsum who we have been working closely with regarding the car parking arrangements for the day. Mr Polsum has agreed to a piece of his land that is directly adjacent to the recreation ground, access to which will be clearly sign posted on the day. The car park will be stewarded by local scout group leaders and a small donation would be appreciated on entry to the car park to assist them in funding essential repairs to their scout hut. Please however try to car share where possible to avoid disruption on the day and also for the environmental implications.

Please note that portable/small BBQ’s are permitted on the day however these MUST NOT be placed directly on the grass, any that are found on the grass will be extinguished. There will be a water butt available to extinguish your BBQ’s and it is your responsibility to clear them away.

We will be providing a picnic/gazebo area where guests are invited to set up gazebos on the day. These are a nice way of providing a base for you and your family and friends for the day and also (fingers crossed) a way of escaping the searing August sun!!! Gazebos may be set up on the morning of the event but people MUST leave the site at 10am and re-entry will be at the opening time of 11.00am. Please note that due to new licensing legislation NO ALCOHOL CAN BE BROUGHT INTO THE SITE. We have 3 bars on site for you to enjoy with a percentage of their takings going to Oakfest’s charities.

The Oakfest Group have worked continuously over the past 18 months to deliver a fantastic day out in the beautiful village of  Tongham that the whole family can enjoy. We hope to see you there!!!

Oakfest Charity

Tongham Oakfest Group (TOG) are delighted to announce that ALL profit from our event will be donated to good causes, with 80% going to our chosen charity The Rainbow Trust and the other 20% being made available to local organisations within Tongham.

The Rainbow Trust

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides emotional and practical support for families when their child has a life-threatening or terminal illness.  Set up in 1986, they offer the whole family individually tailored high quality support through their eight teams of Family Support Workers.

They aim to maintain a sense of normality, and keep families together by ensuring help is provided not only to the sick child, but also anxious parents, grandparents and worried brothers and sisters.

No other organisation provides the range of professional care and consistency of contact that Rainbow Trust offers.  Their work is a vital emotional and practical lifeline to those who turn to them.  Their vision is that one day all terminally ill children and their families will have access to a Rainbow carer.

Rainbow Trust offers support at any stage of illness, from diagnosis, during treatment and throughout bereavement.  Very importantly, there is no time limit to the care they provide.  Rainbow Trust will stay with a family until they feel that they can cope without their support, sometimes for several years after a child has died.

Care is provided to families, irrespective of circumstance, ethnicity, social background, nationality or religion.  Many of those who use Rainbow Trust’s services are single parent families with little or no extended family support network.

For further information please visit their website www.rainbowtrust.org.uk or telephone 01372 363438

Local Organisations

The other 20% of profit made through Oakfest will be made available for local organisations within the parish of Tongham.
